Health Ministry requires face masks to be worn in all healthcare centres

 in Hospital, News
  • The measure affects all Parc Sanitari services at least until Christmas Eve

The aim is to curb the spread of flu, which has increased significantly in recent days. The Catalan government will assess whether to extend this measure over time depending on how the epidemiological crisis progresses.

The decree which has been enacted and comes into force on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, is valid for 15 calendar days. In other words, until Christmas Eve.

Wearing a mask is mandatory for healthcare professionals and also for patients and relatives who use Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu services.

Face masks, along with frequent hand washing and social distancing, are some of the effective protective measures to be used whenever you have symptoms of flu, COVID-19 or any respiratory illness.

Masks have two basic purposes

  • Protecting other people from the pathogens we exhale when we breathe and from our saliva.
  • Protecting our nose and mouth from contamination by possible viruses and bacteria which other people may exhale.

Who does NOT have to wear a face mask?

  • People with respiratory diseases or difficulties which may be exacerbated by wearing a mask
  • People whose disability or dependency prevents them from taking it off independently
  • Situations in which wearing a mask is incompatible with the activity being performed (according to health criteria)

At Parc Sanitari, we also recommend vaccination for particularly vulnerable individuals and their family members who live with them.
