Sant Boi's radiology tests to be done at the Hospital
This change is the result of the work begun a few months ago by the Department of Health to reduce the number of diagnostic tests performed on Sant Boi's residents outside the town
The purpose of these changes is to make the service more convenient and reduce travel for local people by taking advantage of the hospital as a facility in the town which has the tools and resources to perform these tests
From 1 April, residents of Sant Boi de Llobregat will be able to have simple radiology tests done at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Sant Boi and will no longer have to travel to other towns when a primary care practitioner prescribes a test of this type. Simple radiology includes X-rays of any part of the body, which until now were mainly done at the Diagnostic Imaging Service in Sant Vicenç dels Horts (CUAP El Serral).
This change is the outcome of the work begun a few months ago by the Department of Health to reduce the number of diagnostic tests performed on Sant Boi's residents outside the town in response to a long-standing demand from the public and Sant Boi Town Council.
This improvement is the upshot of cooperation and crafting synergies between the hospital's Diagnostic Imaging Department and the primary care teams with the backing of the two health institutions. Since the summer of 2024, the pathways for various tests including echocardiograms, ultrasound scans and Holter monitoring have been gradually altered. Now with the inclusion of simple radiology in this pathway, people living in Sant Boi will have more than 80% of diagnostic tests scheduled within the town.
Location of the Diagnostic Imaging department
The Diagnostic Imaging department at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Sant Boi is on the 2nd floor. It is accessed through the main entrance to the hospital, going down two floors via the stairs to the left of the information desk. Its usual opening hours are Monday to Friday from 3 pm to 10 pm and in the mornings and afternoons for emergencies.
The diagnostic imaging service at CUAP El Serral will continue to cater for other towns and support the emergency and continuous care team for the whole area.
The purpose of these changes is to make the service more convenient and reduce travel for local people by taking advantage of the hospital as a facility in the town which has the tools and resources to perform these tests. The project has been made possible by the engagement and coordination of the four primary care teams in Sant Boi, run by the Catalan Health Institute, and Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Sant Boi, operated by Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu.
