Parc Sanitari SJD accredited as a Living Lab by the European Open Innovation Network
Since June, it has been part of ENOLL (European Network of Living Labs)
This recognition confirms the institution's commitment to a collaborative innovation model designed to address people's real needs
The European Network of Living Labs (ENOLL) welcomed Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu as a member this summer. This accreditation cements the centre's commitment to continuing to operate as an open innovation ecosystem whose research and innovation efforts are driven by the real needs of people whether they are health and social services users, professionals or carers.
The Living Lab model is anchored in active and ongoing collaboration between the public, professionals, researchers, businesses and institutions. Projects conducted tapping this methodology harness co-creation and experimentation processes to design, test and evaluate products and services in real-world settings. This multidisciplinary research ensures users are a central part of the investigation and that end outcomes cater to specific needs and deliver a positive social impact.
Parc Sanitari SJD pursues this approach in diverse areas such as mental health, intellectual disability, ageing and chronic diseases, and social and community integration.
Methodology phases
The Living Lab methodology is arranged across five phases. The first is exploration. In other words, needs are identified to map out innovation projects. These detailed goals lead on to the design phase, at which point the co-creation process with all stakeholders kicks in and the proposed solution is initially validated in terms of use, acceptability and functionality. This is followed by the evaluation phase which draws on quantitative and qualitative indicators to measure the solution's impact. The evaluation encompasses all standpoints: users, professionals and other stakeholders. The fifth and final phase of Living Lab methodology consists of transferring the results to other settings or territories to make sure the project is relevant, useful and sustainable.
This accreditation confirms Parc Sanitari SJD's commitment to a more collaborative and socially relevant innovation model which seeks to enhance people's quality of life and the sustainability of health and social services.
