Somrise kicks off with the addition of Dr Corripio at the head of the project
Dr Iluminada Corripio joined Sant Joan de Déu in mid-May, leading Somrise, the research and innovation transfer project to transform Mental Health and Addictions care based at the Rise Center.
Based at Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu, Somrise will endeavour to cater for today's and future mental disorders throughout the lives of the people cared for by harnessing new treatments and therapies anchored in a multifaceted, human and participatory approach. One of the unique features of Somrise is that it will put first-person experience front and centre in all the research undertaken while also delivering knowledge transfer.
Dr Corripio joins Sant Joan de Déu as Director of Strategy and Development in Mental Health of the ICU and her main goal is to roll out the Somrise project. Dr Corripio has a track record spanning over 25 years in mental health which she began by doing her first on-duty shifts at Parc Sanitari.
Dr Corripio has been director of mental health at the Consorci Hospitalari de Vic and has undertaken much of her clinical activity as a psychiatrist at Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona, where she has also been a researcher associated with CIBERSAM (Centre for Biomedical Research in the Mental Health Network). She has also been a consultant for European projects and a member of several innovation committees, including in the Xarxa Tecsam. Her career has always been closely intertwined with teaching: she has been a lecturer at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC).
