Argudo: “We use the Hospital lobby for art as a means of inclusion”
- The Director of Solidarity Development and Cooperation at Parc Sanitari SJD kicked off the inauguration of the piece STB.H by Nei Albertí.
- The piece has been made in conjunction with people cared for in the Mental Health Network at Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu and will be open to the public until 31 August.
- The event was also attended by José Manuel González, Cabinet Officer for Culture, and Salut González, Cabinet Officer for Health, at Sant Boi Town Council
STB.H is a vibrant torrent of art that has transformed the usual space of the Sant Joan de Déu Sant Boi Hospital lobby into a visual and sensory experience. The piece, consisting of a large fabric suspended in the air, retains the essence of multidisciplinary artist Nei Albertí’s style, characterized by structures that explore the relationship between form, space, and movement.
“This work exemplifies the transformative power of art as a tool for inclusion, expression, and community well-being”, stated José Luis Argudo, director of Solidarity Development and Cooperation at Parc Sanitari SJD. Argudo also highlighted the value of contributions from individuals treated at the Psychiatry Unit and the Sant Carles, Sant Ricard, and Benito Menni clinics of the Parc, who, guided by Albertí, helped shape the fabric’s path and expand the space for collective creation.
In the same vein, the Sant Boi Town Council’s Culture and Health Councillors, José Manuel González and Salut González, praised Parc Sanitari SJD’s commitment to promoting community culture: “We are grateful for this dedication, not only to improving our physical health but also our our psycho-emotional health. It is a privilege and a pleasure to have an institution in our municipality that invests so strongly in culture.” STB.H by Nei Albertí will be on display in the Sant Joan de Déu Sant Boi Hospital lobby until August 31.
Arts in Health
This project was developed within the framework of Parc Sanitari’s Arts in Health program, Torrents d’Art, a pioneering initiative with nearly fifteen years of history. The program features an interdisciplinary team of professionals from the healthcare, social, and cultural sectors, advocating for the universal right to creation and cultural participation, with special attention to vulnerable groups.
