 in Conferences, Mental Health

The first conference, entitled "Building bridges towards comprehensive mental health care in the prison environment", aims to create spaces for analysis, reflection and learning to improve treatment and care in penal institutions

On 12 and 13 June, in the Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu auditorium, in hybrid format, with prior registration. Attendance will be accredited separately for each day

On 12 and 13 June the 1st Conference on Mental Health Experiences in Penal Institutions, organised by the Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu Mental Health Network, will take place, in hybrid and face-to-face format, in the Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu Social Centre Auditorium in Sant Boi de Llobregat.

Under the title "Building bridges towards comprehensive mental health care in the prison environment", the conference seeks to create spaces for analysis, reflection and learning to improve the treatment and care required by people with mental health problems who have been deprived of their liberty.

The close link between mental health and the prison and judicial environment is characterized by a notable heterogeneity in the organization of care, the provision of health services, and the regulatory frameworks that determine the treatment and trajectory of individuals with mental disorders in prison.

Success in treating people with mental disorders in the prison environment depends on effective cooperation between the justice system, health services and the community. The event aims to strengthen these ties, fostering networking that allows us to address the challenges in a comprehensive and coordinated manner.

The conference programme brings together national and international speakers of recognised prestige working in different fields, who will share their experience and knowledge. This interdisciplinary approach provides a richer overall vision of the challenges and solutions in penal institutions.

The conference will be held in Spanish and there will be simultaneous translation for presentations in English. For more information, please see the details of the conference programme, in Catalan or Spanish.
