The Magic Line joins the Gaudí Year with a modernist route through Sant Boi

  • In addition to the route that starts in Sant Boi and ends in Barcelona, a new
circular Magic Line route is being organized on the same day, April 26th; it is five kilometres long and adapted for families
  • The walk will take in Colònia Güell in Santa Coloma de Cervelló and Gaudí's Invisible Garden at Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu

For the first time, Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu is offering a Magic Line route through the municipality of Sant Boi de Llobregat. To tie in with the celebration of Gaudí Year in 2026, Parc Sanitari in partnership with Sant Boi Town Council, the Benito Menni Foundation and the Tomàs Canet Foundation has organised a five-kilometre Catalan Art Nouveau route suitable for all ages.

The route

The walk will take place on 26 April at 10:00 AM at Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu. From there, participants can discover Gaudí’s Invisible Garden, a singular space built by the Catalan architect with the help of residents from the Sant Boi psychiatric hospital between 1903 and 1912.

This space is comprised of three architectural sets: The Waterfall Cave, the Chapel of the Virgin – both rockwork constructions – and the plaza of benches, which features the trencadís mosaic benches that served as the prototype for the benches at Park Güell.

From the Parc Sanitari, the walk will continue to Colònia Güell in Santa Coloma de Cervelló, where various emblematic spots of the Modernist complex can be visited: the Parish House, the Mission Cross, Gaudí’s Crypt, the Agricultural Cooperative and Winery, and the Teacher’s House.

The return to Sant Boi de Llobregat will be made by crossing through the city. The itinerary includes the most emblematic sites of Art Nouveau and Modernist architecture in the municipality, as well as spaces linked to the local Sant Boi organizations participating in the Magic Line.

Throughout the day, there will be refreshment stations, activities, and proposals for all ages. Furthermore, the route is designed to be enjoyed as a family, pets included.

The classic Sant Boi–Barcelona route

The new Modernist route, short and family-friendly, joins the traditional 24-kilometre Llobregat route, which departs from Sant Boi and ends in Barcelona at the Montjuïc fountains.

Promoted and driven by Parc Sanitari SJD, it passes through some of the most unique spaces in Baix Llobregat:

  • Downtown Sant Boi, to kick things off in the heart of the municipality.
  • The Roman Baths, one of the historical treasures of Sant Boi.
  • The Baix Llobregat Agricultural Park, a unique farming area combining river landscapes with agricultural activity.
  • The Can Comas Farmhouse, headquarters of the Agricultural Park and a key site for understanding the local territory.
  • The Hermitage of Santa Maria de Bellvitge, a small oasis before heading onto the path toward Barcelona.

All along the route, there will be refreshment points and entertainment areas to make the walk even more enjoyable.

As every year, we encourage you to participate in the Magic Line by creating teams with colleagues and family members. Taking part is a way of building a sense of community, putting the values of St John of God into practice, and working together to improve the lives of vulnerable people.
