The Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu is a central participant in the 'Sant Boi Breathes + Green' (SBR-V) project, a strategic initiative spearheaded by the Sant Boi de Llobregat City Council aimed at transforming the city into a greener, healthier urban space.

As part of this effort, our institution is actively working to naturalise its green areas, with the goal of creating natural, accessible pathways within the grounds. This will enhance the physical and mental well-being of the community, particularly those undergoing rehabilitation.

At the same time, a pilot mobile application is being developed to map the gardens within the Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu. This tool will provide details on local flora, health benefits, and ecosystem services, with user-friendly features tailored to various user profiles. In parallel, each of these spaces will feature an informational totem that complements the project's tools by offering engaging riddle games.

This app, currently in its testing phase and set to launch by the end of the year, will play a pivotal role in promoting healthy green routes as part of 'Sant Boi Breathes + Green,' incorporating green paths from across the entire locality. In this way, it will contribute to promoting more active lifestyles deeply connected to nature.

Funded by the European Union and built on strong partnerships

The 'Sant Boi Breathes + Green' project has secured a grant of €3,743,010.99, which will enable the creation or renovation of 65,000 m² of green spaces, while also outlining a long-term strategy for the city's renaturalisation.

This project is supported by the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), under the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan (PRTR), and is funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU (file ARUR 00080).

'Sant Boi Breathes + Green' is being developed in collaboration not only with the Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu but also with the Center for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications (CREAF) and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Yet another example of alliances fostering talent exchange, knowledge sharing, and innovation in Sant Boi.
