The number of people helped through the legal advice programme doubles in one year

 in News, Solidarity
  • In 2025, more than 120 vulnerable people have been helped
  • More than half of people seeking legal advice are women

The Legal Advice Programme at Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu has helped more than 120 vulnerable people, almost double the number in the previous year when 62 people were supported. This rise in cases underscores the need to bolster and expand the programme against a backdrop of social conditions which are not expected to get much better in the near future.

The number of people receiving and asking for this service is expected to keep going up in 2026. Fifty-five percent of the people who used the service were women.

Rehabilitation and social and occupational integration services routinely come across pressing legal needs for users and their families, mainly in employment, civil, administrative, criminal and immigration issues, which simply cannot wait for a response from ordinary public service resources.

With the support of theBarcelona City Council, the programme is run jointly with lawyers from Col·lectiu Ronda and Illay Legal, a law firm specialising in immigration. Working together, they identify users' most basic legal needs, refer them to the most appropriate resource and support them in their search for solutions.

In 2025, nearly 450 cases requiring emergency intervention have been detected, of which 120 people have completed the entire legal advice process. In spite of the difficulties associated with their vulnerability, greater continuity in the processes has been achieved this year owing to awareness of the project and the positive outcomes in the previous year.
