Grup Plana joins SOM GARRAF to help people with mental health disorders
The Plana mobility group has committed to contributing €75,000 to the project, spread over three years, in an agreement signed with Obra Social de Sant Joan de Déu and Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu
Grup Plana will help finance the strategy being pursued by Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu to ensure access to mental health services for everyone living in el Garraf, enhance adherence to treatment plans and meet the needs of socially vulnerable groups. With this aim in mind, the Plana mobility group has committed to contributing €75,000 to the project, spread over three years, in an agreement signed with Obra Social de Sant Joan de Déu and our institution.
El Garraf is made up of numerous towns and villages spread across a large area. To address this unique situation, Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu delivers intensive home care through multidisciplinary teams to patients who are at greater risk of dropping out of treatment and need closer follow-up. They also offer financial aid to cover transport costs for people with limited resources when they find that this may jeopardise their participation in the activities specified in their treatment plans.
Furthermore, the financial contribution will also be used to fund assistance for the basic needs of people in the county who are cared for but have no means of support: medical assistance (including medication, dental treatment, orthopaedic treatment and glasses) and housing assistance (rent, temporary accommodation, utilities, etc.).
The signing ceremony for the agreement took place at el Garraf Day Hospital, attended by Sebastià J. Santaeugènia, CEO of Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu; Josep Albert Vallcorba and Gloria Vallcorba, Chair and Deputy Director of Grup Plana, and Juanjo Ortega, Director of Obra Social Sant Joan de Déu, accompanied by José Luis Argudo, Director of Solidarity Development, Patient Management and Citizen Services, and Anna Mané, Deputy Director of Mental Health, both from Parc Sanitari SJD.
SOM GARRAF project
The SOM GARRAF (We Are Garraf) project is the outcome of Parc Sanitari SJD's engagement with the people and the region, a commitment which is stepped up by the construction of the new Garraf Adult Mental Health Centre in Vilanova i la Geltrú which began in early 2025.
This new facility will significantly improve care provided to local users, who will have a renovated and shared community venue in keeping with the anti-stigma and humanisation of spaces principles which Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu is applying to all the institution's new facilities.
