The Brain Film Fest returns to the Park with a day of films and talks about mental health

Theprogramming includes two feature films and a morning short film session, where two audiovisual pieces co-created with professionals and people treated at the Park Mental Health Network will be screened: “Judged by ignorance” and “Five days to break down walls”

The sessions are free and include subsequent discussions given by professionals and people treated at the center.

The next one Friday, March 20, theDr. Antoni Pujadas Auditorium of the Sant Joan de Déu Health Park will once again host the traveling program of Brain Film Fest, which this year focuses on how architecture, urban planning and landscape influence people's daily lives and emotional balance.

The Brain Film Fest —an international festival dedicated to the dissemination and reflection on the brain, promoted by the Pasqual Maragall Foundation and co-organized by Minimal Films— is once again coming to the Park thanks to the collaboration with Torrents of Art, the institution's Arts in Health program and with the support of the Sant Boi City Council.

 

A program that will include three sessions with subsequent discussions

The program will begin in the morning with ashort film session, followed by acolloquiumstarring users and professionals who have participated in two of the pieces linked to the SJD Health Park: 'Judged by ignorance', co-created by the Community Rehabilitation Service of Cornellà and Càmeres i Acció, with the participation of users assisted by the service, and 'Five days to break down walls', from the production company La Kaseta, where professionals and people treated at the UHPP in Brians 1 participate. In the afternoon, the festival will offer two screenings focused on experiences linked to the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and to Tourette syndrome, each with a subsequent debate that will give voice to professionals and people served:

  • At 3 p.m. – Her difference, by Lola Doillin. Original version in French with subtitles in Catalan.

Katia, a 35-year-old reporter, struggles to understand the difficulties she has when it comes to relating both personally and professionally. During the preparation of a new documentary, he discovers the Autism Spectrum Disorder, a revelation that allows her to name what made her different and reconcile with herself.

  • At 5:30 p.m. – Uncontrollable, by Kirk Jones. Original version in English with subtitles in Catalan.

Based on the true story of John Davidson, the film tells the story of a young man with Tourette syndrome who, after years of misunderstanding and stigma, becomes a leading activist. Uncontrollable It is an emotional story, full of humor and humanity, that shows the transformative power of community, friendship and an empathetic gaze.

The film received recognition from the British Film Academy this weekend, awarding the BAFTA 2026 award for best actor to Robert Aramayo.
