The Ministry of Culture promotes the rehabilitation of the Invisible Garden
The Ministry of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia has approved two subsidies linked to the restoration process of the Invisible Garden, the modernist architectural complex at our institution.
The economic grant of 230,000 euros will be allocated to the structural consolidation of the viaduct, the viewpoint, and the architectural elements of the modernist grotto.
The restoration process of the Invisible Garden–the modernist complex designed by Antoni Gaudí at the Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu–has taken a decisive step forward with the start of Phase 2B of the rehabilitation. This phase is fully subsidised by the Ministry of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia, with funding amounting to 199,965 euros.
This phase is crucial to the overall rehabilitation, as it includes structural work on the entire walkable circuit of the grotto/waterfall–known as the viaduct–which provides access to the upper viewpoint or Templete, whose base will also be rehabilitated. Additionally, the balconies along the path will be consolidated, and the arch supporting the bridge adjacent to the cave will be restored. For now, no interventions will be made to the decorative elements surrounding the complex, with efforts focused on ensuring the stability and safety of the structure.
These actions will be carried out in parallel with the conservation and restoration of the grotto's mosaics, made possible by an additional subsidy of 30,000 euros from the Ministry of Culture.
These actions will complete the consolidation tasks and preserve a space that bears witness to Gaudí's creative genius and Catalan modernism.
