Núria Montserrat visits the Rise Center

  • The Minister of Research and Universities learned first-hand about the main research and innovation projects that are being carried out

Núria Montserrat Pulido, the Government of Catalonia's Minister of Research and Universities, visited the Rise Center, the Emotional Health Research and Innovation building at Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu in Sant Boi, last Thursday, 13 February. Ms Montserrat learned first hand about the main research and innovation projects that are under way, including the Avatar-RV psychological treatment project for patients with psychosis and persistent hallucinations, led by Susana Ochoa, researcher and coordinator of the Research Unit. The Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation project was also presented by psychiatrist Salvatore Aguilar-Ortiz.

The Minister was welcomed by Mr Emili Bargalló Angerri, Director of the Sant Joan de Déu Research Foundation; Dr Joan X. Comella, Director of the Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute; and Dr Josep Maria Haro, Director of the Park's Research, Teaching and Innovation Unit. The meeting was also attended by Dr Antoni Serrano Blanco, Director of the Mental Health Network, Dr Luis Lores, Director of the Sant Joan de Déu Sant Boi Hospital and Ms Raquel Fabregat Marcos, Director of Nursing at the Hospital.

The visit ended with a meeting during which the minister was given further details of the research being carried out at Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu. This meeting will allow the institution to create future synergies with the Ministry of Research and Universities, with a view to advancing scientific research in the field of mental health.
