Torrents d'Art takes part in Healing Arts Barcelona

The event will take place at Cinemes Girona in Barcelona on Wednesday, 22 October at 7 p.m.

The documentary "Five Days to Break Down Walls" will be screened, capturing the experience of the "Five Days to Dance" project, an initiative led by the Brians 1 Psychiatric Hospitalisation Unit in association with the De Loopers dance company

Torrents d’Art, the Arts in Health initiative at Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu, will take part in the Healing Arts Barcelona programme with the activity “Arts in Health behind bars: valuable experiences behind bars", which will take place on Wednesday, 22 October, from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. at Cinemes Girona in Barcelona.

The event will include a round table on “Artistic intervention in prison”, chaired by Andrea Martinez, a leading figure in the Torrents d'Art programme, and participants will include:

  • Marta Oliu, coordinator of the Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu theatre groups
  • Noemi del Prado, clinical psychologist at the Therapeutic Unit in Els Til·lers Educational Centre
  • Jessica Morral, social educator at the Youth Penitentiary Centre

After the round table, the documentary Five Days to Break Down Walls, directed by David Fontseca, will be screened, recording the experience of the project Five Days to Dance at the Brians 1 Penitentiary Centre. This project was promoted by the Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu Penitentiary Psychiatric Hospitalisation Unit in association with the dance-theatre company De Loopers.

The event will conclude with a discussion with the director and producer of the documentary.
